ID:	621894 roughneck 2E. voltage is about half what it should be . at 1800 rpm, i get about 68V ac at around 39 HZ. when i get it up to weld speed, over 3000, its closer to 110v and nearer 60 Hz .
    bridge rectifier tests good. i was hoping it wasnt, and i was getting half wave. cap tests good at 238 uf, listed as 240uf. at 1800 , across the cap i have around 39v dc. at over 300 rpm, i get about 54v dc across the cap. AC across the bridge is around 35v ac at 1800, 54v ac at around 3000 . fuse is good. between the pos and neg lead at the bridge rectifier, i get 18 ohms. i believe those leads go to the brushes on the slip rings.

    where do i go from here?

    I'm not familiar with those machines, but if you're only getting 39hz, I would assume your governor is misadjusted.

    If you include your serial number, it's easier to pull up the full manual.

      My first question is that only weld speed matters, right? Many machines need full weld speed for auxiliary power to be used. I think this is where you need the exact numbers, as 60Hz should be 3600 RPM on most machines like this. You may even use the frequency for setting the RPM.

        it generates 110/220 v for house current at 1800. when you weld , you pull a throttle out to bring it up to 3600 for welding. more modern units kick it up automatically when you strike an arc. open voltage at the welding outputs should be 80v , around 120 hz when welding at 3600.
