I have always felt that ford has a faster engine for raceing and the chevys are better for brute power for trucks. It may just be the way the ones ive used were cammed. dont know but thats my 2 cents.

I'm a Ford guy. I've even convinced a few Chebby guys of the power of a 302. My stock block/internal 302 with a Vortech in a 3500 lb T-Bird against a 71 Chevelle with a 502 and 6-71 blower.....it was no contest.I built the T-Bird and had a big part in building the Chevelle as well.
It all really comes down to your preference. There is no reason to pick one over the other anymore. No excuses like its cheaper to build a 350, etc. Everyone has their stories of Fords breaking or Chevys breaking. It depends a lot on maintenance and faulty parts.

OldNavy,
Surely you jest......
You couldn't possibly be talking about these dynosaurs from 1969 and earlier? (see pic)?
Just because they ran over 200mph at Talladega in 1969 in a real "stock" car and took the 4 top spots in that race, doesn't really mean they "ruled"......Attached Files

I jest not!
That's what I was talking bout. There was a drawback to owning one o' the dinasaurs and that was if you were concerned about the cost of feeding one. I actually traded in a Fury with a 400 under the hood (which I owned free and clear) for a Chevette with a diesel and the payments on the new car plus cost of deisel was less than what it cost to feed the Fury.Still miss the big green beast even though it was many cars ago. I guess the F350 XLT 7.5L crew with DRW will have to do for now.

I am a conniseur/collector of late 60s/early 70s Dodge muscle cars.
In my shop right now have 6 various ones; but in particular, I have a certain 1967 Dodge Charger with a 440 in it that costs about $5 in fuel just to turn the key over.......but I wouldn't trade her for the world...well, I might for maybe a hemi-powered one.......
