Even so, I couldn’t be without my machine. And I wonder how they would’ve responded if the machine hadn’t been under warranty. Plus some of us, not me but I know this to be true for some guys here, don’t live near a Miller service center. And on top of that, I have not at all been impressed with my local Miller service center. They’re far more likely to try and sell you a new machine than fix the one you have. I think the guys here only make repairs when they’re required to by Miller. I’m still waiting for them to call me back on parts I ordered several years ago. That repair has long since been made, but it’s just the point of ignoring your customers. I’m a small time customer, but I still deserve the service that any other Miller customer deserves.

I am curious why you tried to upload software. Did you look up what the existing software was before doing this? Also, did you use a full-sized SD card to do this update as it is not recommended to use a mini SD card in the adapter. Last question, would be what size was the SD card? As, depending on the serial number of the unit, the size of the SD card can affect the software uploading process.

I think it's time even the cheapest machines and accessories can be plugged into a Miller computer to be diagnosed. It would save a lot of time for those who don't live close to official Miller approved repair shops, on high traffic days, owners could be put in line and not have to be around to receive their computer's information and findings, as far as I live away from a Miller approved repair shop, I'm thinking I could UPS a machine directly to Miller in Appleton Wisconsin for repairs.

Was not aware of the post on welding tips & tricks regarding SD card size when I "updated" the machine.Last edited by robert-r; 08-09-2021, 06:44 PM.

I sure hope my Sync250 never needs to go under the knife because it weighs more than a forklift and would be a MAJOR UNDERTAKING to get to the nearest repair center (70 miles away). It'd be like trying to ship your HOUSE back to the dealership for service.

Helios: The difference is a sync can be fixed at home with easily-available parts and service info, while the new dynasties take exotic parts (skiip modules, for example) and no one has posted modern service manuals, at least that I've been able to find.
I keep hoping someone on this forum has a big stash of service manual pdfs they want to send me...
