Here's a simple project that saved me a few bucks. I needed a sod cutter so I built one out of .025 steel, a 1" piece of conduit, a split piece of 3/4" pipe, and some 3/4" angle iron I had on hand.
I was able to open up the end of the 1" conduit enough to slip over the 3/4" pipe and drive it over the 3/4" black pipe nipple 2" + before it stopped and wouldn't move any farther down the nipple, the handle is on so tight there was no need to weld or bolt the handle on.
