  • Arc control on shopmaster 300 for SMAW

I have a Shopmaster 300 that I do not usually use for stick welding. So a little rusty on this.

Is Arc Control something that can be adjusted in SMAW? Or should it be set to 0?

    I suspect, yes.
    What does your manual say?
    Lincoln Idealarc 250
    Miller Bobcat 250
    Thermal Arc Hefty 2 feeder
    Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52
    Torchmate CNC table

Arc control in SMAW is a "dig" control that can add in extra amperage in low voltage conditions. This can help to keep the stick electrode from sticking to the piece you are welding on. There are some general settings to it, but it really comes down to personal preference on how high or low you prefer it to be set.
