  • Econotig stick and tig weak arc

Hi everyone, I have a econotig Miller stick and tig welder its about 12 years old and barely used, i brought it new. I went to use it the other day and the arc is so small on both the tig and stick it will no penetrate. I would appreciate any input on help trying to solve this issue.

Is the output low in both A/C and D/C outputs? Is a remote control connected? What is the settings on the front for amperage amount?

      Hi Blue tech
      1. T2 transformer has 70+ and 70- voltage.
      2. Foot pedal good.
      3. The potentiometer on front ok.
      4. Polarity switch ok.
Thats all I know. If there are other things I can check let me know and how to do them.
      thanks for your input!!

Set the machine to stick mode with remote control turned off.
DC+ polarity,125 amps on the machine and try lighting up a 1/8 7018 electrode.
        What happens?

I just seen your post I will try that tomorrow.
by the way what is the remote control?
I just have the option of stick welding or tig welding with the foot pedal.
          thanks for your input.

Your foot pedal is the remote. I’m not sure on the layout of the econo tig control panel. Is there a switch to turn the remote on/off? Unplugging the pedal may be your best bet while troubleshooting your problem.

I have a tig machine that requires you to unplug the foot pedal. If you try to stick weld with the foot pedal plugged in it will only weld at the minimum amps the foot pedal will allow.

I took the foot pedal off and no difference.
                thanks for you input!

Simple to hard, that’s troubleshooting. What have you done now?
