  • Miller GoldStar 602-High Amperage

I have been troubleshooting a welding machine Miller Goldstar 602, instead of welding the machine is cutting the metal.
    1. Metal thickness – 5mm
    2. Minimum 50 Amps
    3. Electrode No. 12
Can anyone suggest a solution please.

    Thank you.

Sounds like the Lem is bad or wiring to the Lem. It controls output. If it's bad or can't sense the output the machine goes to wide open. Need to check +/- 15 VDC .

If you have a current clamp to measure current, you might check what's actually coming out. The schematic I'm looking at shows the transformer feeding 6 SCR's which should be controlled by the controller board to manage current output. There's a current sensor coil around the output which gives the controller board feedback.

Unit provides only maximum or minimum weld output. Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check control board PC1 and hall device HD1.
