  • Dang non smokers

Used to be, 20 years back even to solicit a smoker for testing systems out. Restaurants even built Smoking Rooms at great expense.
You needed to determine how an exhaust was performing just ask a smoker or 6. Then the politicians got on the bus with the Health People and today you can't find a man with a cheap cigar to test anything. No wonder nothing is getting developed in the US any more.

And those stupid vape things all the dipwads suck on looking like perverted concert musicians don't produce smoke worth diddle to test.

I've completely incinerated 2 cardboard models trying to test smoke removal on the JenAir combination Cutting/Grinding/TIG/painting system.
This project may wind up on hold for want of Amazon boxes. Even worse, just try finding a cheap cigar in NY any more.

They called it hot boxing. Crowd all the smokers into a little room too puff their brains out. Remember when it was just a sign, non smoking section? Guess the hot box was an advancement in engineering? If you were closer I'd be happy to contribute my bad habit. On the bright side, you can always find another card board box around.

I go clear back to ashtrays on every table, and since I never found much use for cigaretts other than leack release devices, I'll admit there were places I didn't go to eat because of the smoke. Odd thing was back then people were polite, and if nobody in the area was smoking folks would generally ask anyone sitting near if they minded. I can even recall some people getting an azz chewing from their companions for lighting off in the area of a baby.

Then along came all the screamin sniveling spineless children who were earth friendly and smoking/NonSmoking came into being. There were a few old Italian restaurants here said to be frequented by a social subset not particularly fond of rules, and oddly they never needed designated sections.
As sniveling punks found they could gain power by yelling louder, they did, and politicians naturally regulated sealed off independently ventilated Smoking rooms causing great cost to restaurants in particular. Greek place in the Village spent over $100,000 when that was real money to add one, and before he got the loan paid off the politicians put a complete end to smoking.

Sadly that also put a halt to the ceiling cleaning business. That had been some nice money for little more than spraying Peroxide at the ceiling while wearing supplied air masks. Uniform companies went nuts figuring out how the garments were dissolving though.

Right about now if I could find another Amazon box and a box of Players I could complete phase 1 testing. Maybe Tack will climb on his roof and send me some moss I can dry and light off. Little used motor oil added and it should make plenty of smoke to test with.
I do appreciate your offer Noel.

I avoid all and any places that still allow smoking today (which thankfully are very few) The native owned casinos for example. 30 min in one of those establishments and your clothes smell like a rotten ash tray. Last one I went into, my eyes were burning before we finally left. Disgusting.

I just did a small section of the roof for now, I'll want to see how the concoction affected the shingles over the winter before I do the whole roof, The concoction cleaned the roof alright, but I'm afraid it did to good of a job.

That discoloration was caused by the moss, not the fine quality concoction.

Did you save some of the moss and dry it so you can send it to me for smoke testing?
I have a steel roof rolled by a fine Amishman in NY State so I don't have my own moss farm.

BTW, you forgot to Fast Orange & scrub inside the gutter. Do you have any idea how dirty gutters lower property value?

You are going to the wrong casinos! All of them I have been to that allow smoking on the floors have never offended me or my family! Maybe they have much better smoke extraction units! You pays your money and you take your chances!

I wasn’t in there long enough to loose any money. The smokers drove me out long before that happened.
I feel so sorry for the folks who have to work in that environment.

If there was enough moss to gather I would put it in a plastic bag and ship it to you.

The roof was black when it was new, after cleaning it, it now looks brown or a tannish color, I'm afraid the chemicals will ruin the roof more than the mold. The roof should have a few more years on it before it needs to be replaced.

Franz, Is there a Frazinator® rifle barrel cleaning concoction good for removing copper but easy on gun bluing.

Thank doG- Wally came thru for me.
The impingement director baffles aren't at the perfect angle, but if I can keep from toasting this last box, and find something to generate smoke I may get back on the October deadline so Tack don't cut my development budget off.
Yes Tack, I know they ain't ceramic as specified, the bos ain't steel either. Get over it.

Send me something that produces smoke without incinerating the box

Perhaps you can find an old Burgess mosquito fogger at a yard sale and run smoke fluid through it. https://www.smokemachines.net/buy-smoke-machines.shtml

Sure, now you come up with that after 2 prototypes go up in smoke.

I think they are a bit expensive though. You increasing the project budget?

If you could find the mosquito fogger I don't think it would be a budget breaker, the chemicals in the smoke fluid you could probably find on the bottle and make a version of it yourself.
