Welding boots recommendations?

Hello I'm looking for some welding boot recommendations? I know red wings are popular but I don't really want to be spending over $200. Anyone have any recommendations of some that are comfortable/durable and won't fall apart...

We bought our work boots from these guys and liked them. We were in the foundry business though. And you won't get much change from $200.

What i like you may not. Over 40 years of welding i have about had them all. Prob most were Red Wings at least in the later years. My last pair of RW were just a low cut shoe that was steel toe...Bob

I had a pair of Timberlands once and they were Ok but Red Wings are awesome.

And when Bob wears all the leather off the toes and can't plasticote them one more time Bob carefully cuts the steel toe out to use as a drawer pull on a project.

I still wear my 15-yr old Red Wings when I need to. Most comfortable work boot I've ever had and would never get anything else. WORTH IT.

I agree, redwings all the way. I put off buying a pair for a long time, then I bought their cheapest pair, best boots ever. That was a long time ago. I just went back and got a new pair and sent my old pair out for resole.

Invest in yourself. Do not go cheap on your foot gear or your hood. $50 boots will not last long and probably make you sad far more often than you think. Spend the cabbage and get something good.

I know, it’s hard to believe that Franz doesn’t know something because he knows it all, but redwings are not hecho in Mexico. Their website breaks down there boot model manufacturing as of May 2018 as such:

Made in USA – 25.8%
Made in the USA with Imported Materials – 18.7%
Assembled in the USA with Imported Components – 1.0%
Made in Cambodia – 15.2%
Made in China – 28.8%
Made in Vietnam – 10.6%

I don’t think any of those places are in Mexico, but I’m also not as smart as Franz is, so they all might be in Mexico, somewhere, somehow.

But for those that are interested, Redwing shoes does an excellent job of breaking their boot models down to the nitty gritty for you on their website. They even have the history of each boot model for your reading pleasure.

But to the OP, buy the best you can afford. I’ve had Georgia giants and loved them, actually still have a pair I wear all the time. Most of your workwear stores will have a good range of prices for their boots. Maybe next time you’ll have the extra cash to get an upgrade. You really need to just go try the boots on. Something that fits me well might be a terrible fit for you. One thing you don’t want is to have your feet hurting while you’re on the job.

That would be USA Red Wings.

Some redwings are still made in USA, some are not. Only the USA ones are good.
