Was wondering if anyone has a complete wiring diagram of the charging circuit, with the stator and all other components involved? Also would be helpful to have the ignition circuit. Thanks.

Well searched the net found the Tecumseh tech manual on the engine OH160. It explained the 20 amp stator the regulator and the ssi. The stator has a charge coil on two of the induction lugs shown here and the schematic for it. I checked the ohm reading with the black wire disconnected from the ssi, from that wire to ground, got a very low reading, I pulled the flywheel and the stator, had a lot of rust, cleaned the stator up and checked the ohm reading again it had 140 ohms which was really good according to the tech manual. At that point I cleaned up the area where the stator mounts, sanded the rust down to bare metal, remounted the stator, checked to ohm reading again going through the engine block, had 140 ohms, so the problem was a poor ground between the stator and the engine block. Also changed the regulator to a newer 20 amp style I found on Amazon. So problem solved.

Hopefully your Cump isn't equipped with the wonderful electronic ignition system or you'll be searching the net more.

There is a guy that sells a replacement kit for the ssi. He’s in Texas.

            Thankee,
Unfortunately he's out of stock and has no idea when that will change.

Fortunately both my MF tractors that need them are way down the list of things I need to deal with.

I've actually come up with my own electronic ignition system. It's much more simple to set up and use for this engine.

Want to post a schematic or other explanation so people could actually use that knowledge? Designing their own ignition system is beyond most welder's abilities.

Sure, first u will need to check the condition of the stator and magnets under the flywheel. Make sure the 6 magnets r not loose or they will hit and damage the stator. The charge coil in the above photo will not be needed and if the stator has to be rewound u can use all 18 segments to charge the battery.
