The whole world needs a dadgum computer to operate these days. Remember Y2K? The world was going to end because the computer calendars might crash.

PC's are dirt cheap these days.

        https://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-T...kFi:rk:31:pf:0

These started out at $5000 each. Perfect complement for your welder.

Did it ever work? Miller can't brick it remotely so, if it used to work, this probably means it's broken and needs to be repaired. I don't believe any welders have WIFI yet.

This is a first power up. I've been very slow at getting this set up. I've been doing what tig work I been doing with my xmt.

Sounds like it's DOA and needs to be returned then.

Companies will do anything to get subscription dollars. That's why all the gas suppliers won't sell a tank above 80 CF (around me anyway). They want you in the rental program so you pay monthly whether you use gas or not. I could see a company putting wifi into welder the same way most new cars have a built in cell phone. Recurring revenue. They could sell it to business was a way to track employee productivity.

If it's a new machine, I wouldn't throw in the towel on it. Could be a factory preset program thing going on and looking for an automatic software update the minute it sensed power? I have no idea?
I'm sure reading deeper into that manual or calling tech support will provide some clarity and answers?
I would have thought they came with an SD card? Not one hidden in a card board fold of the packaging?

One thing for sure, it's a heck of a power source. Don't quote me on this, but my understanding was the Dynasty lineage was the precursor of remote monitoring and control systems?

                https://www.millerwelds.com/files/ow...75857G_MIL.pdf

It's going to be a learning curve. Steep learning curve. Learn the basics and expand from there. The manual left lots of blank pages for writing notes. That should be your clue? It's complicated, take notes as you tweak the buttons changing the functions. Take your time, but play with one thing at a time until you understand it, then move on to the next. 92 pages...my Syncrowave manual has 48. Good luck with that.

After attempting to update.... "Machine sits powered on, insert new SD card with the downloaded file.... solid green led under slot illuminated...... for 20 mins..... meters still scrolling software invalid.... remove SD card..... powered down unit let it sit for a few minutes.... removed power.... waited a while and reinstalled power, powered up and reinstalled SD card. Solid red LED now.

I'm fairly certain the machine isn't "broken" I'm just doing something wrong. I know Miller's a huge company and I am just a minnow in their ocean of customers I'm still proud of my blue equipment for now. We will see

Reflashing firmware is always relatively dangerous. The danger is "bricking" the device where your new software isn't written but the old software was erased. It depends on the design. Most modern PC's keep a copy of the old firmware on the device so, you can revert if you lose power 1/2 way through an update.

If miller can't walk you through a procedure to fix the software, what other choice do you have but to return it?

I'm not sure. Miller hasn't returned my phone calls or responded to anything I've sent.
