  • WC 1 and spoolmatic 1 on bobcat.

I'm looking at an add for a WC1 weld control box and a spoolmatic 1 spool gun. It appears to have a lot of connections and cables/plugs. I'm not 100% sure what I need to use this set up with my bobcat 250?
If everything is there, will the set up work well with the bobcat?

I think the WC-115A with the contactor installed and the 30-A is your recommended option for that machine. After that I got nothing.

This is the adapter my Trailblazer 302D needed to run my 30A spool gun. Its the WC-24, if youre bobcat is newer this may be what you need also, it ran $175 used on ebay, bout $400 new if i recall. Plug facing in photo is what hooks to the machine itself, good luck

I'm guessing the Bobcat doesn't have an output contactor since both controls recommended for it specify a contactor kit. I don't know if there is a way to adapt the contactor kit to the WC1. so I would assume that you wouldn't be able to turn the weld current off without a contactor??

The bobcat is new. 2017 model.
My manual shows a drawing for spoolgun operation and it shows a WC with an optional contactor. It says the contactor is recommended.

            The
bobcat does not have a remote hookup.
I could see where this would be the way to go with a trailblazer.

My research is telling me that the wc1 with spoolmatic 1 will work. However the wire will constantly be hot due to no contactor. This is the most inexpensive way to do it but not the ideal way.

Yes, the WC-1 and Spoolmatic 1 will work on your Bobcat. I know because that's the setup I have for my '96.

However, it does make it a bit tricky to use without a contactor as the arc will follow the wire back to the contact tip after you release the gun trigger. This will almost always result in melting the wire to the tip unless you pull the gun away quickly as you release the trigger.

I don't have that issue as I've modified my Bobcat to include a contactor and 14-pin remote receptacle which I don't recommend unless you have the knowledge/ability to do so as it's quite involved.

Yes the WC-1 and Spoolmatic-1 will work on your Bobcat same as it does on my '96. You'll need to pull the gun away at the same time you release the trigger to prevent the arc from following the filler wire back to the contact tip which usually results in welding the wire to the tip. A WC-1 with optional contactor (WC-1C) would solve this.

Site won't let me attach the link but if you go to the weldingweb forum and search Bobcat 225G Plus 14-pin Receptacle Conversion you'll be able to see how I added a contactor and 14-pin remote receptacle to my '96 Bobcat.
