  • Mullermatic 350P Aluminium

Just pulled the trigger on a new Machine dedicated to replace the older MM350 P.
The new Aluminum 350P, I hope it is what tech says it is as I have one of the original 350p's form the first run and it has been a great machine.
The reason for the replacement is the 251 is over 17 years old and is having a hard time these days and nothing lasts forever.

My plan is to retire the 251 to my home shop, move the 350P to dedicated steel service and the Aluminum 350P to step over.
Tech did not tell me if my Python will be recognized by the program as the older machine did, as I do have a Miller XR also as a backup.

Been a long time since I have been on the forum so I guess I am the test pig again.

Also from the days gone by when Andy ran things, when the site was reformatted a lot of the old timers had to resign up, with that been said my post count is now 61, wow I hope I age as good as my post count.....

You are going to love the 350P-aluminum. It is much simpler to set up and the primary drive is a slave/stall drive only. It's only job is to get the wire to the push/pull gun. I preferred it over my standard 350p but I was previewing it for Miller before it was released and had to give it back. Since then I am soldiering on with my old 350P and my CobraMig.

I have always been a fan of the 350P and it has been a great machine for my line of work. Many a welder has stopped in to give it a test drive.
I hope the python is compatible as it is my favorite,

On another note I am really looking forward to pushing some ER70S6 threw the 350P and see what it can do. Like a kid with a couple new toys to play with.

Bernard has a 20 foot lead steel gun that might be on the short list also, I am sure the duel drive will push it a lot smoother than a single pusher.

I am excited to get some new stuff to work with....

Machine arrived yesterday at 5:30 Pm with a dented door. No biggie as UPS Freight will get the bill for the door. Wonder if they will pay, not holding my breath.
Set the machine up, changed over the voltage to 230, and followed the book to set up with the XR gun and calibrated the system. The jog and purge features are a nice touch.

Ready to do a quick test as the day is getting short, the moment of truth.

Set it for a 1/4 inch plate fillet weld - synergic mig. WOW THIS BEAST CAN WELD!

It was a very controllable puddle and had great penetration.

Lets jump over to Pulsed, which was the bread and butter of the first generation 350P.
Now the frowney face is on
Checked the parameters and still no good. will have to touch base with tech support to dial this in as I know something is wrong. Switch back to synergic and HAPPY AGAIN!

New machine has a learning curve and I WILL BE READY...

Happy on the most part so far as I think all of the bird nest issues are a thing of the past.

Bummer. The pulse mode worked fine on my test unit. Did you find the cheat sheet inside the flip down compartment?

Yes, I just did not have a lot of time to play with it.
I will do some test work this weekend and see if I can get her dialed in.

Got back in the shop to dial it in and went through the set up procedures. Had the incorrect setting in wire size. Made the correction on the beast and it came alive.
All good with the new machine, it is spot on and welds like a champ. I am very happy with the new machine...
