You are going to want a "Stainless TriMix"

The shielding gas recommended for short-circuiting welding of stainless-steel contains 90% helium, 7.5% argon, and 2.5% carbon dioxide. The gas gives the most desirable bead contour while keeping the CO2 level low enough so that it does not influence the corrosion resistance of the metal. High inductance in the output is beneficial when using this gas mixture.

How many wraps of the work lead around the table leg would that be?

Yes will work but not high quality. 350 has induction adjustment. I keep a roll just in case. And have used it with argon.
But Tig in most all occasions

Thx guys, I'm a hobbyist at best! Id like to learn how to tig one day!
All im doing is cutting the end off SS handle "the rectangle" part the mates to the valve stem. Then welding a ss pipe to it and a T Handel on other end.

Why do you want to use a spool gun? Why not just use the 350 how you'd normally use it?

Without the correct shielding gas, your weld will be sooty at best. I've done it before and have not been pleased with the result.

TIG is the clear process of choice if you can. If not, run that wire through the 350 and not the spool gun.

Have you welded stainless before?

I just figured id use the spool gun, as i assumed it would be cheaper to buy a smaller spool, plus argon is rigged up to that side anyway.

You can use a little spool in your 350 now. Just remove the 1/2 nut and pull off the big plastic spool holder...Bob

I think you'd be better off to use the argon/co2 mix as opposed to pure argon...provided trimix is unavailable.
