  • Bobcat 225G Plus no weld no power

I have a older bobcat 225 plus that I picked up for a project, the guy told me he was welding with it the day before and the next day it stopped.

I have checked the fuses, wiring, connections..... all looks good.

so I checked to see if i had power at the bridge coming from the excitation circuit 1-1 1/2 volts should be 43-50V, so get the coil for contunity less then 1 ohm, pull my variac out hook it to the bridge set to 50V welder is fine AC power is right on the money. while running the two wires coming out of the stator for excitation have 46-48V on them, turn the variac off and the rotor holds about 25-26.5V not enough to charge the rotor.....

my question is what could be causing this??? am I going to have to pull motor and stator out to have look inside???

hope I got enough info for some of the people that know this and tell me where to go from here.

if not ask I may have done the test just not posted what i did.
