  • spectrum 375 extreme plasma cutter new swirl ring

I recently bought a used plasma from someone and im in the process of replacing certain parts on the ice 27t torch. The original swirl ring has no lip and the new ring i bought does and says its for my torch. i also bought a new shielding cup too. the issue when i install the new swirl ring the way it says to it wont allow the shield cup to screw down. I also tried flipping the swirl ring the other way and just get a cup error. The torch works with my old swirl ring and old shielding cup but not the new. this is the one im using now http://weldingdirect.com/swri171.html

Well it looks like you bought a swirl ring for an ICE 25C torch when you have an ICE 27T. You need part #202809

My torch say 27t and the swirl ring that is is the link I provided is the one that works, it the new one that you mentioned that doesn't work. I'm so confused. And the swirl ring seems to go in different too the swirl ring is supposed to go in with all the little air holes being faced out but only works with them faced down.

Well then you don't have a 27T...Pictures would help.

For the life of me I can't understand why they don't just make 1 part and use it on all the torches. But that's just my thinking. Each one is a tad different. But then you wouldn't need so many engineers...Bob

Ok nevermind I finally had to really tighten everything down super tight. Is that usually a sign that something is wrong?

                "Really tight" is subjective.

Totally normal, if something doesn't fit it means you need a bigger hammer.

But seriously, the 202809 IS THE CORRECT swirl ring for the 27T. Don't know why they had the swirl ring from a 25 in it. You shouldn't have to "really tighten it down." You sure you have the correct O ring on the torch and it's not getting mashed when you put the retaining cup on?

I believe the technical terms are:

                  Hair, Smidge and Tad.

Well I reading how to just hand tightened everything so that's what I was doing, but now it's crazy tight. I'll check the o ring.
