The millermatic 251 is an amazing machine. I find it to be the most versitile machine I own. I'm not really familiar with the Ins and outs of the other two you listed. I can tell you I've done everything from thin wall 304 stainless tube welding to John Deere 350 bucket rebuilds with high amperage flux core wire work with my 251. Awesome machine!!

If you plan to do aluminum TIG, the 180 SD will be good with 1/8" and OK up to 3/16" material with limited with 1/4" and thicker due to it's duty cycle and overall capabilities. Preheating and/or helium shielding gas would help for anything other than small jobs on 1/4" and thicker. I've done 1/4"+ with mine (argon) but have to run flat out when doing so.

Ok thanks guys. I will be doing aluminum. For now it will mostly be thinner material. Will also be doing lots of stainless exhaust work... Guess I made a good choice on the 251

As of right now. I do 20 sets (of 2 in 1 set) of frame stiffeners with the mig. And all kind of stuff also. I do custom full exhausts out of stainless, including headers for turbos. Also do random fittings and what not people ask.
