  • 1.2 mm elgacore wire mig wire

Has anyone ever used the fluxed core elgacore wire and what for? I have been told to to use it to cap my tig welds on high pressure pipe work, but im sure standard wire will do the job if the tig roots good

I've never used it. Is there any reason you want to change? Looks like a quality product.

Well always used to use low hyd stick rods to do the cap, trying to save time by migging the cap as we have two good root runs, our supplier has told us to use fluxed core and told us its low hyd mig wire but in my understanding all form of mig are low hyd, dont want to waste money on flux core if not needed

I'm not a pipe weldor, so I'm not the guy who knows. But I understand that a lot of guys are using dual shield. I use it for a lot of things myself and I bet it would be faster for you and there will be no doubt you're getting good penetration. To me it's the most 7018 like wire out there.
