You can also stab yourself in the eyeball with an ice pick, doesn't make it a good idea.

My first AC tig rig was an HF box and a thunderbolt. Against all advice, I did it anyway and it was a waste of time and money.

Be better off with a spool gun for once in a while repairs. Probably cheaper too.

But yes, you can do it.

Please don't poke yourself in the eyeball just to show me that you can do it. We leave that stuff for Olivero. He's our test subject.

So what your saying is I shouldn't test the high frequency output by pointing it at my eyeball?

And it's not scratch start with the TIGPig. It's adds HF to a buzz box.

        Another vote for the 215.

i hooked up my spoolgun to my Passport because I wanted the longer whip on a project and it just became a PIA.

this was before I got the 252

you are correct, it does have an on/off button. I had to rig one for my HF box.

And shooting yourself in the eye with HF is wonderful technique for handicapping yourself. I have to say, I have never seen anyone do it. You should video it.

its better when you covered with sweat and you get your crotch just a little too close to the welding table.

            Just sayin'.

And buzz boxes are made with a smaller transformer than a TIG welder. Do a search here and read what Andy has to say about the conversions and all of the junk Thunderbolts that were rejected with warranty work because the operators tried to TIG with them and fried the transformer. Just saying...Bob

That's some great info to put in the vault, Bob. I have a stand alone tig machine, but I have had friends inquire about tigging off a buzz box.
