  • Gas inlet to Multimatic Machine

does anyone know offhand what the gas inlet fitting is to the 215? I'm trying to make a quick disconnect and don't have the machine nearby.

    Thanks.

I believe its a 3/8" NPT, female in the machine.

Might be 1/2" or 5/8"...... Now I am not sure.

It's definitely not just pipe. It a flared fitting.

Well, yes... of course. But I am guessing you need the size of the pipe right?

Im gonna bet my luck on 5/8" NPT, yes its flared but that's a given.

Here is a random regulator, its got the 5/8" outlet connected to an 18" hose so I am pretty sure its a standard size in welders and regulators.

Yes - It says 5/8" Female @ 18 threads per inch.

            Not an 18 inch hose.

                    Thanks.

you want a 5/8" x 18 Right Hand "B" Size Male gas fitting (NOT NPT)

Might be best to buy the quick disconnect set

IS NPT not just a designation for pipe thread? I am getting confused.

NPT stands for National Pipe Thread .... which is a tapered thread

                        That fitting is NOT NPT

Aaaaaah. My bad, I messed up, someone told me it was just a designation for a pipe thread, tapered or not.

Thanks H80N for clearing that up.

It can be confusing but a couple of things to remember

Inert gas fittings are usually 5/8" x 18 Right Hand " B" Size gas fitting

Coolant fittings are usually 5/8" x 18 Left Hand " B" Size gas fitting

                              Thats what I'm after.

Those disconnects are pricey. I was looking to find a end so I can use normal cheap air line disconnects. I have 3 bottles & regulators that I'm swapping around all the time and it's a pain.

                              Thanks for your help.
