Convert Dialarc to work like Syncowave

well just to cap off, i used the dialarc earlier and there doesnt seem to be any clever features aside from a little overlap between the ranges and on my set-up the pedal seems to control 100% of whatever range im in. It does the job but i really miss pulse welding with the pedal and having full control. Great welder otherwise though.

That is quite a challenge, and I see what you mean about the heat range with the foot pedal,I thought the foot pedal controlled 50% of the range, so if you turned your dial back you could use the lower end of whatever range you're in, I have to read some more I guess.

That's interesting, I've not heard that before. I will do some research and post back. I never suspected there could be a helpful feature hiding in my midst! That would be cool!

"Cheap" and "Syncrowave" are used in the same sentence as often as "chinese import welder" and "awesome" are....

I continue to have trouble with something similar on my old airco. The range lever and the percentage knob and having to do MATH of all things to set my heat. Just have to make additional test runs before I weld when I change things up...

Ah, I see. Thanks for the knowledgeable replies. I guess I'll just have to live with it for the moment. If I ever see a Syncrowave going cheap I'll snap it up, Fantastic machine!

. I have a feeling that the wiring to the lever could be reconfigured to allow my machine to operate as the syncrowave does. Has anyone encountered similar problems with the Dialarc? Or has anyone here modified one or heard of it being done?

NOPE.... Totally different architecture...

The Dialarc is a Magnetic amp machine and the Syncrowave is a SCR Chopper...................

I don't think it will, the three position range lever on the dialarc looks like it changes the way the power routes through the transformer, the syncrowave is configured differently. On mine there seems to be enough overlap in the ranges, but there's a reason dialarc go for $500 and the syncrowaves go for $1500.

Hi everyone,
My Dialarc has a lever that can be moved to 3 positions which splits the amps into thirds. There is also a potentiometer or dial which can limit the upper end of the amps in each of the levers positions, however, the lower end is governed by which position the lever is in. For example, if the lever is in position 2 and I hit the pedal, the arc strikes at 33% of available amps. This often causes me problems as alot of my work requires amps in the 15-45% range. I used to use syncrowave 250's which didnt have a lever and instead you could adjust the dial to limit the upper end and have amps from 0% available at the pedal. I have a feeling that the wiring to the lever could be reconfigured to allow my machine to operate as the syncrowave does. Has anyone encountered similar problems with the Dialarc? Or has anyone here modified one or heard of it being done?
