  • Diesel Bobcat 250

I have a 2002 Miller bobcat 250 diesel that isn't charging the battery. I have replaced the voltage regulator with a used one off a different machine and it didn't change anything. I tested the voltage of the dynamo and it tested at 25v idle and 42v at high rev. Any info would be great. If someone could enlighten me on how to test the voltage regulator or point me into a better direction.

With 25/42VAC off the engine alternator stator and the used regulator isn't putting out any DCV I'd have to conclude the used regulator is also defective.

Sounds like marginal V output...........BUT I would not rule out battery issues. Some perfectly functioning voltage regulators "act up" in circuit when connected to worn down batteries. Have you run either a load or (preferably) a conductance test on the battery?

BTW --- these 18hp Kubota engines are terrific
