Hey sorry I know this is an old pot but I have a Lincoln 256 and would really really appreciate any help to locate a the plug to connect a spoolamatic 30a to my machine and how to wire it. Thank you!

I think Cruzier out in Edmonton builds a magic box for that connection. I thought the voltage out from the 256 was not the same as the 30a uses. And everyone loves the 15/30a for a spool gun.

Getting the Lincoln spoolgun would make the most sense.

Does the 256 have the 7 pin connector for a spool gun? I made an adapter to connect my 30a to my lincoln. It works fine on normal cv. The pulse programs take some tweaking but I have been able to get decent results even with that. Pretty sure the 256 doesn't have any of the fancy features tho. I'll post part #s and wire diagram later

In an old post cruiser said voltage is the same. And yes buying a Lincoln gun would make sense! If I had the money to do so.. if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated

                  Sorry got busy yesterday
for the lincoln end you will need the following parts:

654-MS3106A16S-1PW (note: I had bought 654-MS3106A16S-1P which ended up having the wrong clocking. It still worked I just had to cut a new notch to make it line up with a little dremel tool. This W version should be the correct one)

                  97-3057-1008

For the miller you will need
                  MS3101A18-1S
                  97-3057-1010

I order the parts online usually through mouser or digikey.
Use at your own risk, I don't take any responsibility if the part #s are wrong.
I got the wiring diagrams through the spoolmatic manual and mk cobras manuals.
All I ask in return is that you confirm it all worked when you do it so other can share the information.

                  Then make the following connections:
                  Lincoln to Miller
                  A to C
                  B to B
                  C to E
                  D to F
                  G to H
                  E to D
                  F to G

For reference the lincoln 7 pinout is:
                  A - motor lead +
                  B - motor lead -
                  C - Pot
                  D - Wiper
                  C - Pot
                  E - switch
                  F - switch

                  Miler:
A - not used (grounding wire)
                  B - motor -
                  C - Motor +
                  D - switch
                  E - Pot
                  F - wiper
                  G - gun switch
                  H - gun switch
                  I - not used
                  J - not used

no problem! Just went through it myself about a month ago and couldn't find the information anywhere so it took a bit or research. It would be nice to have a sticky on the forum with various amphenol part #s and usage.

Willvis. What are the plugs u say needed for Miller? To hook the spool gun directly to the Lincoln would be just the first plug correct?

I looked up the parts. The one looks like it has 4 holes on one end that is what's messing with me.

Ya its the female version of whats on the 30a. That way you can just make a short pigtail adapter. You would need some wire to connect the 2 togethor. Probably see if you can get some 16/4 and 16/3 sjow wire from an electrical place since there are 7 wires. Or do the el chepo method like me and just use single wires and rap it all in electrical tape. If you dont want to ever use it again on a miller then ya you just need the lincoln connectors. You'll have to map the letters on the plug to the wire colors. I wanted to be able to use my spool gun on my trailblazer and lincoln welder thats why i went with an adapter. Im suprised no ones doesn't just sell an adapter.
