  • Dynasty 300 SD Technical Manual

Does anyone know where I can buy a Dynasty 300 SD technical Manual? I contacted Miller and they aren't willing to supply the tech manual...I'm sure it's a liability to them, which I completely understand. The serial number to my unit is LB039590 so it looks like its from around 2001. The fan on the unit never comes on (yes it's fan on demand) and in AC the arc cuts out sporadically...especially if I throttle the pedal at all. The unit seems to work fine in DC. The Miller tech mentioned it could be the clamp circuit and that I should take it to a authorized service center. Economically this doesn't make much sense for me so I would like to troubleshoot it myself. If anyone can point me to where I can get the tech manual it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Tech manuals occasionally show up on eBay but I don't see one for your machine there now.

Thanks Aero. I went as far as sending an email to the company that has most of the manuals posted up on eBay to see if they could get me one. I also called my local Miller service dealer. No luck with either.

Just keep a watch. I finally scored one for my TB 280NT with patience.

I wont supply this one, as its a highly technical, machine, equally as dangerous

It sounds like I should just take it to a service center and see what it costs for the repairs. I don't have a lot of money in the machine so it won't hurt to have it checked.

Ok so I took my machine in to have it repaired and I got the quote back today. They said they were able to get the fan to cycle so no issue there. They said the AC cutting in and out was because the PC3 board was bad and gave me a no quote for the repair because the board is obsolete. I searched the forum for dynasty 300 pc3 and saw a thread where cruizer mentioned its better to replace this board because repairing is unlikely. So I guess I'm asking if anyone knows where to get a pc3 board for a dynasty 300sd. I think the part number is 200 339. I will keep my eye out on eBay for now. Any other suggestions are welcome too. Thanks

Have you called miller directly about the part? I had an experience lately with my LWS getting a relay for an old machine and did not get at all satisfactory results with their service department regarding a replacement part. Called miller and got all sorts of help, some confusing numbers between the parts line and the tech support, but because of the excess information I was able to track down leads on parts from a couple of different sources. Some of the part numbers were old that could be cross referenced to new parts, others were the individual parts vs. the parts "kit". They were actually a great help.

That's a good idea I'll give them a call next week. My unit is from 2001 and pc3 is obsolete but a pc3 from a 2006 model year is still a buyable part (different part number). Does anyone know if I can upgrade to a newer board?

Miller will answer that in a minute. Give 'em a call.

I just talked to Miller and their response was "probably not" on whether or not I could upgrade boards. This seems in line with what I've been reading on forums just wish I could have gotten a more definitive answer. They said the only option left is to have the board repaired. Now the question is should I throw the towel in on this welder or chance it on a board repair? I've read that these boards are very difficult to repair.

Your note from the earlier thread where Cruizer said repair of these boards is unlikely to succeed would probably make that decision for me. If it were mine, painful as it may be, I think I'd be looking for a new welder. Just my two cents worth.
