    Will steel ball bearings explode?

    I'm very new to the welding world, just starting my 2nd project. I want to weld steel ball bearings, low carbon, 1 1/4", to a piece of tubing. I've already figured out that the tubing melts, but I have found a way around that. I had already welded 3 of the bearings when someone told me to be careful because the bearing could explode. Now I'm scared to finish with the rest of the 25 that need to be welded. Is this true? I tried searching the internet, but could find only where hollow balls exploded. Thanks for any input! (I should say, these are solid steel, not hollow.)
