Thanks for the responses on this machine also I like to thank Jim for the knowledge on this machine. I'm looking to purchase a plasma cutter in the near future.

Buddy of mine bought a Hobart 120v plasma cutter with the onboard air last summer. He brought it over to test it out and all we could get out of it was a quick pilot arc then water. We are on the gulf coast and the humidity is pretty ridiculous here most of the time. We opened it up and that particular machine did not have any sort of drier or filter on it. Not sure how well it works in a lab where it was probably tested, but out in the field, es no bueno. <br />

I have a large air drier and still use inline desiccant filters on some of my tools, like my plasma cutter.
This week the temperature here has been in the mid 90's with the relative humidity in the 70% range and high 70's dew point. I've only cut about 100"s at this point and have had zero problems with water, The cut quality is great and no moisture problems. I'm happy.

I feel the same way. Plasmas are wonderful but I have seen them abused in the work place. Guys cutting 1" steel where a torch would be better or cheaper (those little packs of plasma parts aren't cheap) I used to burn 1" and the guys used to say man that looks good like you cut it with a plasma. Now a CNC plasma or using it on thin sheets or stainless is a different story. But just to get a plasma because everyone has one sorry I will keep my ox/acet rig. Just my thoughts..Bob

I have always respected your opinions Bob, your welding wisdom like many here is the hands on kind. Without a torch setup I would be like a fish out of water.

Pretty much the same here. If I didn't do lots of aluminum, I probably wouldn't care about having the plasma cutter. The oxy/acetylene torch is definitely more useful.

For those that are interested in the 30AIR, Harris Welding Supply has them on sale at $1205. Anything I purchase will be on sale shortly afterward.
                          Just my luck.
