Filler Rod selection AL 4043 or A356?

I have a housing that is AL 356.0-T430....There is a crack on it. I want to know what is better filler to use on this Al 4043 or A356?

I think I should use A356 because of similar composition and I believe it has slightly better strength properties.

I think 4043 is not heat treatable, correct? And A356 is ? ..... Even though I will not be heat treating it, I rather would have A356? What do you guys think?

    I would go with 4943

Here is an old thread on this relatively new filler alloy

I would go with that, but I do have have it and need to finish this work ASAP. Therefore, I have to use 4043 or A356 =/ ....any ideas?

                Bob...

the minimum order I have seen is only 5lb for TIG rod...

think you are talking to the wrong supplier....

A356 is a casting alloy specification. Do they even make an A356 welding rod? If so what do they call it?
Need to do welding on A356 aluminum castings? The experts at FMA explain what filler alloys you should use when welding A356 aluminum. Learn more here.

This is what I was basing my assumptions on..you can see filler A356 used with base metal 356 provides better strength and toughness capabilities than 4043....but then again this maybe used for the brand name MAXAL....idk I think I am just going to use 4043 since its been around more.
