Drier outlet extension cord.

I searched around and found many threads on this topic. Not only here but elsewhere as well. I recently purchased a Miller Dynasty 210 DX CPS for my home garage. It wasnt wired for 220 other than the drier outlet. (I will be getting an electrician out for a dedicated box) In the meantime I mad an extension cord adapter for the drier outlet. I puchased all the hardware from Lowes and spliced a power cord to a drier outlet plug. I sed 6-50 recepticals and plugs for the welder to extension cord.I hope this helps someone .

They didnt have just the plug at Lowes or Home Depot so I made due with what was available. Hence the pigtail. It works. Electrician is coming out next week to wire a dedicated circuit for the welder. In the meantime I can weld....lol

For maybe a buck apiece you can get all the molded drier plugs (most I see, and use, are NEMA 10-30 50A) you want for any of your 230VAC equipment at thrift stores, instead of paying $12 or more each at the hardware store for a plastic one. I have picked up several of them in 50A, 30A, and other varieties (they all have different prongs/blades), and assembled a number of short adapters in various combinations so that I can quickly plug anything into anything (I usually have had to buy the female/socket end of the adapter at full price from a hardware store). Of course, one has to know not to try to draw a whole lot of amps through a device not intended for that, but you just limit yourself to how high you set the machine or load the machine. I must have half a dozen of these quickie adapter-cords hanging in the truck.

If you don't need all those adapters, you still might be interested in the plastic drier plug sold at Home Despot and elsewhere that has the extra blades and slots so you can convert back and forth between the 50A and 30A configurations in about 5 minutes, depending on what you find when you get to the jobsite . . . .

The Dynasty doesn't come with a plug on the cord because it can run on Single or 3 Phase- cord plug is decided by end user.

Most folks that are running single phase only... are installing a 6-50
