  • Bob I thought I read somewhere on this forum that you use to make drive rollers for these or could find them?

I found a guy who recently sold me one he custom made for 0.030 and 0.023 or 0.025 wire it was made out of stainless steel, I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

I have made drive rollers. I work for a local welding supply now and we may have some on the shelf. The back room is a time capsule with welder parts...Bob

or........ since we had been talking about them

how about another application for these Capacitors...

                • Mine is 35mm diameter that's 12.5mm wide with a keyway cut in that's like 2 or 3mm I have photos it's definitely not like the miller's you posted. I thought about finding a different drive roller system but the way my motor mounts is different then newer styles. It mounts directly behind the wire feed rollers. It's big and they use hardened steel for the rollers. Mines set up for 0.030 and 0.035 wire

You can do lot with 0.030 and 0.035.... no practical need for 0.045 with that size power supply

0.025 wire was not on the market when your welder was new

Wish I had the time to play around with stuff like that. You certainly have a knack for finding the unusual. Thanks for the link!

                        • Guys I got bigger issues now, I put the old caps back in to double check and make sure everything was still working like before with the issue on high voltage. I had market all the capacitors so I knew which wayou they needed to go back in. I turned the machine on and hit the gun and sparks shot out. Now I have hardly any wire speed and a loud noise when I hit the trigger on the gun and I get a spark coming from what I think is a relay? The 3rd bar on the top left is making a spark when I depress the trigger I'm unsure where sparks originally shot across the floor from.

Here's a picture below. Hopefully something isn't ruined I can't seem to figure out what went wrong . The only thing I can think of is that I tried testing one of these ohmlite 50k resistors while still in circuit and it's causing my problem now.

                            • I tried putting it in dcrp and turned the machine on and it just makes a loud whining sound so I turned it off quick. The big iron part that runs over top the copper coils heated up pretty quick I noticed when I touched it.

                              • Or could this all be related to the capacitors, I'm just nervous putting new ones in and smoking them when I turn it on
