• Third Party Accessories for Econotig

I bought a second hand Econotig. The only accessory it had with it was the stick stinger. Fortunately, I have a gas hose, and welding ground clamps aren't all that expensive. My local brick and mortar welding store has a TIG torch inbound. Flex head. Reasonable.

For the foot pedal, I am considering an Amazon offering by a company called SSC Controls. It is $167. US made, or so it claims. Feedback is good, however, when I was considering a Chinese TIG machine, I heard it was common company practice to have employees of the company write glowing feedback. That makes me a little leery of relying on Amazon feedback.

Has anyone heard of this company? Of this product? SSC Controls C810-1425 TIG Welding Foot Control Pedal, 14-Pin Plug, 25-ft Cable, Miller Welders, Replaces RFCS-14, 043554, RFCS-14 HD, 194744, Amperage Control by SSC Controls

I was looking at flow meters, too. Harris, Forney, and the Chinese offerings. I was looking for something robust, and different looking. Unfortunately, they all look identical, as if all of them shot the same flow meter from different angles. ALL details identical. There were one or two exceptions. Genssi, and Lotos. both Chinese. The only difference was the location and shape of the knobs. The same flow meter, with hundreds of dollars difference in price.

    Now, on to bumper stickers

SCC controls is a company here in the US. They make foot pedals here in the US for Linclone, ThermalArc as OEM. Super high quality. I have 3 of their pedals and will be buying more as required. Very low profile and superb range of motion. I unclipped the top and welded a heel hook on mine, but they now offer a heel hook as an accessory. Can't beat the price as well. Good old mom and pop workmanship. I have beat the life out of the one that came with my ThermalArc for 10 years now on a daily basis and only closed the pivot holes when they ovaled a bit last year.

      Great! Thank you!

      Now, about the flow meter.

      1. Even tho they ALL look alike, is there ANY difference that would warrant one flow meter to be $27 and another to be $288?
      2. I have a spare AR/CO2 regulator for my MIG. Will it work OK for the TIG?

Your spare should work, no problem. Is there any reason you wouldn't want to use that one?
I've never heard a bad word about SCC.
The price you got for that foot pedal sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Wanted to try a flow meter instead of a regulator.

I prefer flow meters as well. A middle of the road one should run around the $80ish range. Mine are all Victor brand. Not because I think they're the best, but because my LWS stocks them and the parts to fix them.

Bought cheap Chinese. Could not tell the difference, in looking, between the $27 and the $125 one. I see, in Victor, you can really lay out some bucks. Looks like different casting.
