Got me thinking about not painting it now....if it looks that bad nobody will ever want to steal it or borrow it... starting to see the benefits now

Plus, there's so many other things you can do besides paint. Like jabbing a sharp piece of tungsten up under your thumbnail.

Some of the HOBARTS of that era had a gold hammertone finish

It has a hammered finish now for sure...chit hammered.. I wish they hadn't sprayed the stripper on it... leaning towards leaving it alone except for the muffler now...used a screw in tube type and an elbow.. just gotta make a muffler extension and some type of tractor exhaust cap...probably make one since it's so small. I think the muffler needs to be upright with a tractor cap...kinda fits well with the upgraded finish it currently has

Exactly what I want but they are too big...my pipe is just 3/4 npt and the muffler outlet is about the same diameter as the threaded hole...thought about making 1 out of a short tube, 2 body washers , cotter pin and a small nut or similar for it to pivot on...need it kinda tiny to be proportional to the machine

Why not put one of these on an elbow so it is upright.... and clamp the raincap to the outside of the muffler body..??

the muffler body OD should match one of the raincap's ID

It's on a 90 elbow and pointed towards the sky already, just thought one of those tractor caps would be neat on it if I could make a small one. Anyways thanks for that...I forgot to keep it simple again and my imagination got loose. I may cut the outlet down a little so the cap will fit nice when it ain't running. Probably will look right if I trim the outlet flush with the muffler body. Thanks for the help there...I probably would have wasted half a day with my original idea

Update on the gw 130. I ran it and used it for about 30 minutes. Had a service truck come in today to pick up some used parts. He saw the gw and had a fit. Said he learned to weld with the exact same thing 30 years ago. He said his was labled different but the same machine with the same cart and motor. He asked if 400 would buy it. I was hesitant because I really liked it, however I have no need for it and had less than $100 invested in it. He seemed to love it more than me so I let it go. And I dont mean money love, he had a sentimental attachment to it, easy to see. Using profit for a water cooler for a tig
