I have welded aluminum on AC a GREAT DEAL with a Bobcat. It's ok. Bobcats are a wonderful generator. The arc itself is sufficient to give satisfactory results. The torch will always be LIVE. You will need a gas valve on your torch. You will have to set your amps on the machine quite frequently. It is a very basic setup at best, and very cumbersome to implement.

When you master this and move to a better machine you will be much happier for sure.

If you were to buy a small Dynasty such as a 200 or 210, or even a 280, and run that off of your machine, you would be very impressed with the results VS the arc off of the Bobcat itself (or a Trailblazer for that matter)

The Bobcat does NOT have the 14pin control connector required for remote amperage and contactor control...

BUT the Trailblazer does... so it can use the remote capabilities of an HF-251 as well as pedal

Unfortunately... Miller no longer makes an AC/DC Trailblazer.... a used TB301 or TB302 would work...

However...a dedicated TIG machine is still a better bet

Even with an HF-251 HF box ... the Bobcat makes a pretty marginal AC TIG machine....

does not have the ability to run a pedal or contactor... Scratch start only....NO 14pin connector... like a Trailblazer

Would suggest if you are serious about TIG... that you invest in a dedicated... full featured machine like a Dynasty...
