what does "play around building boats" include? Is everything aluminum on a boat 3/16"? I'm asking because I have no idea about boats.

By recalling the aluminum repairs I've done on boats, my guess is your 211 will be drastically undersized.

The aluminum repairs I've done have been mostly TIG, but a few with mig. But I don't have a spool gun. My MM250 can throw some aluminum weld metal down though, 3/64" wire...it's actually a bit of a beast like that.

I know there are some guys on here that are really jam up with the spool gun though, should be along any time now and give you some advice.

    Welder vs welder

Guys, I am no pro and trying to teach myself to mig weld aluminum. I have a millermatic
211 with 100 spool gun. My question is
If i only weld up to 3/16 5052-5086 plate is a welder a welder? If the 211 has enough amps to do the job other than duty cycle is there any reason to have a bigger more complex welder? Other than maybe pulse
Would a 350p do a better job or make it easier? Wanting to play around building boats. Thanks
Working...
