  • Picking the right machines

    I want to weld thin pipe to maybe schedule 40 pipe also thin plate 3/4 and thinner it will be for home projects and practicing also anyone have any affordable tips to fire proof a garage I rent and not trying to spend to much in case I move any suggestions tips and advice thank you all and if I posted this before sorry I just got back on here

    Drywall is pretty cheap, and a pretty effective firestop. Thin sheet metal is cheap, and would certainly stop sparks. The real key is to clean the area carefully, remove anything flammable, and sweep before you weld. Watch the area for 30 minutes after welding.

      My vote is for Sheetrock. You can always put up welding curtains around your welding table as well.

      As far as the right machine goes, that's dictated by your budget.

          You want a Miller Maxstar 150. Perfect machine for those on the move and in a shop with 240 will run 1/8 lohi.
