I certainly have no argument with the 252 but before you spend that much money on a welding machine to use up 18 lbs. of wire, what are you planning to weld? Is 3/64" ER5356 the appropriate wire for the job? If you can afford that machine and spool gun, I say , go for it. Just be aware that you may end up buying different wire depending on what you want to do anyway. ---Meltedmetal

what would the closest next level miller machine that would weld this ?
millermatic 212 or 252 ?

The Millermatic 211 is really not a large enough power source to handle 3/64 wire. The arc starts would be poor and the overall weld performance would be poor as well so it is not recommended.

Asking if anyone with the Miller 211 can tell if the machine have enought poower to handle 3/64 alumninum ER5356 wires and the drive roller etc... the Spoolmate 150 they recommend says up to .035... but not sure.....
just surmising.... best guess... but heck.. give it a try....

Thinking about getting that miller 211 with the Spool mate 150, but impulse bought a batch 18x 1lb rolls of 3/64 ER5356 wires instead. Now when I check the specs... the spool gun only handles .035 size and Not sure if the miller 211 machine it self will be able to have enough power to weld 3/64 inch diameter ER5356? Or is it ok to use it?Tags: None
