  • Tig, 1 inch bevel

Going for a weld test, it's a 1 inch bevel all tig.

I've done mostly tig since I started welding about a year ago. I can do sanitary on process and chemical ss.

My question is, this test has a backing strip. What should I do for full penetration? And after my root what should I do for my hot pass? Turn it up a few amps or a good bit?

And yes I am a rookie

I would say you need to be around 180 to 200 amps. No need to turn the heat up later as the coupon will heat up with each pass.

This has to be about as easy as it gets. I have never taken a tig with backup and all the way out. Usually open butt and sticks.

I know, it seems like an easy weld just don't want to drive that far and find out its more complicated, thanks guys! Thankful I didn't get busted on!!
