I use Nikon's Picture Project that came with the camera and it works okay. When I export the picture to another file(so I can Find it both to post and subsequently delete if I so choose) it gives me the option to re-size it. Picture Project is now discontinued but Nikon has replaced it with another program. You should be able to find it on the Nikon site as a free download.

Microsoft Office has a picture editor that can do re-sizing of multiple pictures all at the same time, and then you can "save as" to save it as a duplicate. Surely everyone has Microsoft Office right?

I hate having to click on photos to see them in a decent size. Why can't we all just use [img]{picture link**[/img] code to have them show up in-line within the post? Soooo much better for ease of navigation. And you don't have to resize anything? Surely everyone has a Photobucket/Flickr account, right?

It also works with ANY pic from the internet. For instance, go to Google, search for something, then click "view image". From there, you can copy your url into the [IMG][/IMG] brackets like so:

                https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/07...g?v=1449455037

Put like this (without spaces near the brackets):

                [IMG ]https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0783/2013/products/pro-table-kit-3-x4-large-heavy-duty-welding-table-top-kit-certiflat-by-tab-slot-u-weld-1_2048x2048.jpeg?v=1449455037[ /IMG]

                Than it turns into THIS!

The only drawback to this is on an informational/tutorial thread that you would like the pics to stay here with the forum. If the hosting site ever changes the link, or if a person moves a pic in photobucket/flickr/hosting site, the pics will be gone from the forum. In the automotive forums we try to encourage members to upload for this reason, but with modern super-high res pics, they eat up valuable server space. This forum asks for usually small pics, that cannot even be seen.

Perhaps a middle-of-the-road approach? Either use the resize option in the bulletin board software, or allow slightly larger pics? Currently an uploaded pic comes out he size of a stamp on most screens.

I don't buy this. Not from you, just saying in general. Storage is soooo cheap now, that You couldn't get all the pictures from every single forum member here to eat up even 200GB. A good pic is what, 10MB in size? Assuming everyone's picture was HD-quality, 10MB each, that's 20,000 pictures. Realistically, say the average picture is 3.5MB, that's ~57,000 pictures. You can't even find a 200GB external storage hard drive, it's so tiny, they don't even exist, lol. 1,000GB (1 TB) is like what, $50? I'll buy it and send it to Miller so they can plug it into their USB on their server,

10mp photos are about 10mb, yeah. Not sure where you buy storage, but I was just shopping for TB drives and they are not that cheap for a decent one - and pretty sure servers don't use cheap drives, don't want them crashing often. Also have to take bandwidth into consideration, we have no idea what they have available and/or dedicate to us chatterboxes lol.

Usually these rules are left over from the dial up days (56k, no way!). hehe

As I said, there should be some kind of auto-size feature depending what VB system they are using here.

If you are uploading a jpg attachment, the max. file-size is 512000 bytes. The maximum width and height (in pixels) is 730. If your file exceeds these limits, you will need to resize the image.

Here is a test to see how posting same photo as "Small", Medium" "Large" affects how they look after posting.
                          Photo dimensions: 725 pixels/inch x 725 pixels/inch.
                          Resolution: 200 pixels/inch.
                          Photo size: 3.625" x 3.625"

Why is this the only forum, of the dozens I frequent, with these recurring issues of posters not being able to post pictures we can see, unless I guess they find these instructions on how to do things differently than all the other forums? This is especially sad because this forum didn't use to have these issues, until someone changed something.

H80N has helped me figure out the resizing thing. But from the iPhone app, nothing you can do. If you try and post a picture, it comes out itty bitty.

From a phone, you need to go through the browser and select the "view full website" option to upload and have the pics show up in the thread without links. Otherwise you are posting from the "https://m.webpage" indicating it's from a mobile device, rather than a PC (https://webpage)
