I build custom intake manifolds for import/sport compact cars, mostly turbo cars. Most of the peices I have waterjet cut locally. The plenums are made from 1/8" thick, and the bottom of the plenum where the runners go into is made from 3/16" thick. I usually use all 6061, but the waterjet shop only has the 3/16" in stock in 3003. I kinda need this stuff ASAP, so im wondering how well does 3003 weld to 6061? Does it polish as nice? Any concerns for strength, with 3003, the manifolds can see as much as 35psi boost. Ive heard 4043 is the filler of choice when joining 3003 to 6061, this true? I only have 4043 and 5356 filler.
