Plasma cutting tables

Hi Guys

As it seems there are many plasma cutter users out there, can we see plans / photos of your home made cutting tables (clever or otherwise).

These do not have to be powered - what have you been up to?

Not homemade and not manufactured: kind of a combination of things through the years. Maybe it will give you some ideas. By the way I think you made a good choice in the Miller 3080. I would not trade my 2050 (55 amp) for anything in its class. I would be hard pressed to trade it for anything any bigger.

My machine was a store bought hobby table, but I think by the time you get done figuring everything out. It's more like build your own kit!!!

The one picture is of the extra braces I cut and milled, so it could take the weight.

Have you had any problems with your table? I ended up getting one 2 weeks ago and its been a challenge (putting it very kindly). I would like to talk to you about any problems youve had.

Mine was a ***** for lots of reasons, just now I am starting to feel really pretty good about it. I was pissed for months, and just gave up. The wonderful Internet saved the day!!! Maybe I could speed up you Learning curve on the table? I still have a long way to go, but it's me now, so I feel much better.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the replies - you have been busy!!

I think we will cut our teeth on a very simple manual X-Y table to give us an easy and accurate set up to cut straight lines.

It is quite a jump to full CNC and our serial/parallel port I/O programming is a little rusty. Not sure if pantographs are quite what we are looking for either.

By the looks of what is out there we should be talking to some double glazing companies for the extruded aluminium beams and roller followers.

Anyone tried anything similar?

Hi Springbox, here is a picture of my cnc machine. It is a Tracker brand. If you seen how this thing is put together, you could duplicate it in no time for a simple manual x / y machine! Supposedly it will take a 4’ x 8' x 3” plate! It does work flawlessly as a full blown cnc machine tho!
