they make 2 1/2" to 3". maybe you could modify that. or you could cut the 2 1/4" off the y-pipe, and weld either a 2 1/2" to it, or even a 3".

    the y-pipe on my truck was 2 1/2" exit. i went to a 3 1/2" exhaust. i welded a reducer cone on the 3 1/2. down to 3". then i cut off the 2 1/2 and welded a 3" piece on the y-pipe.

    thanks but problem solved

what im really trying to do is build a custom exhust for my diesel out of 4in pipe but i checked with my engine guy and he said that 4in pipe on a non blower engine would result in power loss. he said 3in pipe would result in the largest gains and i know a muffler company who builds that stuff.

and they also build smooth y pipes... thats why i needed an adapter to go from my 2 1/4" y pipe to a 3" exhuast. now that they are doing it, it will be 3in all the way back from the headers.

im sorry i dont have pictures though.

i kind of regret having someone else do it for me. i was really looking foward to building something for the spring.

but thanks for all of the help guys!

Burns Stainless has most mandrel bends that you would need. They aren't real cheap, but the quality is top notch! They also have some flanges and other things.

are you looking for a reducer ? sounds like it. and i don't think they make em in those sizes.

what exactly are you trying to do ? pic/s = 1000 words.

I did a 4" exhaust system and we just got mandrel U bends from a local supplier and cut and welded. You should be able to find them at possibly some diesel shops.
