I've done a lot of research on this board and haven't found any MM 250's! was this a bad welder? It seems like no one has one, or I've over looked them!

They were a bit of a problem child for Miller, because unlike the MM200, hey did not have a great low end for welding thin materials under 14 gauge.I know many people that have these machines and use them daily in small fab shops with no complaints. All of the shortcomings with this machine have seemed to be corrected in the MM251 machine.I have owed the 250 machines and was quite satisfied with there performance, with the exception of light material performance. For use in the mid to upper range they were a great machine.

The PAK 5 XR is a pretty straight forward machine. The only circuit board in this machine is only used for the indicator lights. One problem that I have had with mine is the 3 pole contactor. With the lack of solid state circuitry, these machines are a little hard on this contactor. What you need to do is pull the panels and check the voltage on the primary side, then activate the contactor with the torch trigger and check the secondary voltage. Both voltages should be nearly the same,if not, then you will need a contactor. It is a quite simple fix.I just picked up a definite pourpose 30A?-3 pole contactor from a heating supplier for $20.00 and had it going in minutes.I have also repaired a couple of these machines for freinds and in every case the problem was this contactor. This may not be the problem, but I believe it is the most practical place to start checking.Another thing to check is the air pressure. This machine will not operate if the air pressure is too low.

Mm250
We have one here where I work. Gov.t of Canada, and it has been a great preformer. Haven't tried spray transfer yet as the argon is used for Al only with an old spoolgun for any Al repairs that we do. Will be purchasing a new Dynasty 200dx this week and hopefully the spoolgun on the mig will be going the way of the dodoA Failure To Plan On Your Part,
Is Not An Emergency On My Part!
