  • HF 21, what power source?

Hi. I just ran across a deal on a complete Tig setup using an HF-21 high-frequency unit for aluminum welding. All it needs is the power source. Wondering what source I could use that would fit my needs / budget. Something cheap that I could possibly add a wire feed to later. Actually, is it possible to run the HF-21 off an MM210? Wishful thinking I know. Thanks.

You need a CC machine to use this as a TIG setup.

I put a Lincoln HF box on my old Linde arc welder. I added a rectifier to get DC.

You can run it on any CC power source, a unit having AC might be in your better interest though.

How about a thunderbolt xl ac/dc? As you guys can see, I'm completely clueless with this tig stuff.

I was going to mention that, but I was positive the next question would be how to control it, and then Moody would step in and suggest his SCR dimmer assembly, and, on and on.....
