  • Up Gradeing to a MM210 with Spool Gun

I have been thinking about buying a Tig welder to weld alum. in my home shop. I was going to take a lenghty class on TIG at the local community college and purchase a Tig machine after the class. But now I am thinking about the MM 210 with a spool gun and 2 bottles. I currently have a MM130XP and would like to weld thicker steel so I thought the 210 could work for both. I have never welded alum. and would like to use it to repair motorcycle frames and things like that . My Question is. What is the difference in the quality of welds between Mig and Tig?

The upgrade to the 210 is good, for steel. It has some uses for aluminum but welding on motorcycle frames wont be one of them. Thats TIG work.

I agree, but if you need to build a boat, or in my case, a boat launcher from thicker aluminum the 210/3035 combo is just right IMO. But like you have said before, the need for most guys to do aluminum is overblown
