  • Heat sink compound

I'm getting ready to weld some 20 guage sheat metal and I wont have access to the back side of the weld after fit up.Also the piece is not flat makeing a heat sink bar impractable.I saw an add for a product called heat fence. It claims to be a heat sink compound to limit heat to the weld,it apears to be a past.I'm wondering if any one is familiar with it and would it help to keep my peice from warping when I weld.
To all who contribute to this board.
    My sincere thanks , Pete.

It's better than nothing, but won't soak as much heat as a big chunk of copper.

Heat Fence is available in a caulk tube that makes things a lot easier. It dries on your part as you weld....and then it's like dried mud that must be cleaned off. It will help, but it's not any magic pill that will solve all your problems.
