I sold my 180SD two weeks ago and have been saving for another TIG machine. I have a good repor with the welding supply company I deal with. I wanted to get a synch. 250 machine but the more I read here I want to try the dynasty 200DX machine. I know it is not as powerful as the synch 250 but I will see what the 200DX can do tomorrow. I am going to bring some alum. scrap with me. I will bring .090 plate and some machined 6061 .500 (flange used for Throttle body). I made a upper plenum box with my 180SD using the same material and it worked well. See build up on my site. Anyway I might be going the 200DX route. The power of the dyn. 300 is tempting but that is a lot of money. Someday when I make more money I will get a dyn. 300. For now I have enough cash to pick up a dyn. 200DX. torch(air cooled for now), foot control, gas regulator and ground clamp. If I do get this machine I will water cool it eventually. My main uses for a TIG are: convert intake manifolds to EFI (machine and weld in injector bungs), make custom upper intake plenums (alum)(like blown S-10), fabricate cold and hot sides for turbos (mild steel/ stainlees). I think the dyn. 200DX should be able to handle that.
