  • New Drill Press

    Hi everyone,
We had a grand opening at a new Harbor Freight over the weekend and my brother-in-law wanted to check it out. Now I don't buy much from Habor Freight but I did pick up a couple of things. I did notice a drill press that I was impressed with. (30055-3VGA) They call it their production model. It's made by Central Machinery. It looked pretty heavy duty. Have any of you guys used one of these? Are they any good?

Mine is the 8" press (table top) and I love it. For the money you really can't go wrong with them. A race shop I worked at in Bakersfield, CA had the big industrial one and we never had a problem. You get way more out of the machine than they cost to replace. A few guys here shop at HF for lots of stuff. I picked up many air tools, 90 degree magnets, brushes, etc.

The cost if it fails is deeply dependant on how long it lives. I believe it will perform as expected.

Work it, till it doesn't anymore!

I have a drill press that I would consider similar in quality to what is available at HF. I have found mine to be well worth the money spent. The only problem I have had is that the belt tension is hard to adjust and sometimes the belts slip with continuous heavy use. I have used it for years and find it handy for most general hole drilling.
