  • Syncrowave 350 gas problem

I brought home a 1989 Syncrowave 350 with an SP-34 programmer this weekend. I tried testing it out this evening. I can't figure out how to start gas flow with the foot controller. I can start the arc and control current with the foot control. The machine flows gas when you first turn it on. I can start the gas at the front panel, and with the programmer. The post flow works. Just no gas when I try to weld. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Try disconnecting the programmer. It's probably not controling the gas properly. Run the machine in it's stock configuration. If the gas comes on when you first turn the machine on, it has to be ok. The only other thing it might be is a relay problem in the machine.

I got it working. After following the schematic and tracing wires for days, removing the programmer and still finding nothing wrong with the machine, I opened the foot control and found it was wired completely wrong. I assume it was being used for a different machine.

        Thanks,
        Kevin
