target shooting used to be a hobby of mine. don't get to it these days

reload and shoot to sub moa, my preban hb AR-15. I like shooting my PARA-ORDNANCE 14-45. and some clays with a 870 is good fun. i got into collecting C&R guns, i like the WWII stuff. have a K98K bringback, and an COMPLETE, unground & ALL matching ARISAKA. and a few others. always wanted a Rem 700 sniper 308. i have 2 small safes full of stuff. selling off 1 safe of stuff, just don't use it anymore.

hey, have you ever shot a .50 BMG rifle before ? let me tell you
      talk about some KICK !!!
check out these pics (bad quality, it was a video capture)
this was a great day for me, lots of guns, bunch of full autos.

cool, the pics took. those 50 BMG's are AWESOME. i just love HIGH POWER !!!

        Blown S-10,

I'd be afraid to shoot one of those monsters right now that'd probably do me in. I've only shot my 870 twice since the accident and less than one box of shells between both times and it didn't do my neck any good. So for now I'll stick to my rimfire 22's, they're fun, cheap and no recoil.

I was looking at the thread where you showed pics of your truck. First off it's one nice looking S-10. I do have one question though. How's your hook up coming off the line with only spring slappers for traction bars? On leaf spring cars I usually use a 3 point ladder bar with axle floaters and a panhard bar and when they hook, they hook. Also I don't know if anyone has ever told you this but if you disable or remove your front sway bar you'll get a much better launch and perhaps shave that e-t down a little bit.

Well it's getting close to my bedtime so I'll catch you later.

yeah Blonde. the .50 do kick. the semi auto isn't bad. maybe a tad more than an 870.
but the bolt action .50. well now, that sucker REALLY DOES KICK
i'm not a small guy (though not large), about 190, not fat, and have some muscle. and i love high power. and that .50 bolt gun really packed a wallup. and both of them have moster brakes on em. i had someone video taping me shoot. every time a round went off, it distorted the picture, bad.

thanx man, thats the reason i got into welding, to further its cause.

traction. well, i guess i can tune a bit. hows a 1.9 60' for ya . on 275-60-15 T/A radials @ 25psi. also, it has helper air bags.
and that is with an off idle, NO boost launch. anything more than that the tires would cook.
this is at Route 66 Dragstrip.
i wonder what it would do with slicks, hehe.

only one time did i ever get hop, don't know why. normally i either hook or cook.

the sway bar, yes, i know that. i prefer to keep it on, for the street. and i don't change it at the track, pretty hard with what little i have to work with at the track. but i have the bushings lubed. and i have the links barely tight, i mean, the rubber is barely compressed.

btw, it has a fuel cell where the spare tire used to go. that helps traction a good bit. along with the rear mounted battery.

            Blown S-10,

I tried a set of the spring slappers on my 66 "R" code Fairlane which had a 427 side oiler in it that was pretty heavily built for a street engine in the early 70's and I never could get it to hook up at the dragstrip I just went up in smoke & hopped and if I kept my foot in it it'd crank sideways. I didn't want to alter the body or subframe on it because I knew someday it'd become collectable so I put a stocker side oiler back in it and dumped the built one into a 68 Shovel (Chevelle) and put a good 3 link under it and the difference was like night and day.

I know I'm going to hear some flack from someone about putting a blue oval motor in a bowtie body. But what the heck someone had to do it?!?!?!

As far as your sway bar goes you don't have to totally remove it at the strip just get an extra set of bushings and hog them way out so the bar just rattles in there the link bolts can stay in place, it's about 5 minutes and a socket and combo wrench.

Anyway good luck with future mods on the lil "S" truck

Blondie, You have done what i always wanted to do. I wanted to put my 302 Ford in a Slomaro. I sold my side oiler 427 22 years ago along with my "R" body 63 1/2 Galaxie. If i only would have known how much they would be worth now...Bob. two miles from Quaker City Dragstrip

                Bob,

One ragged out Slomaro 500.00, replacement body panels 1,600.00, custom paint job 4,000.00. To hear everyone say that's a really nice Slomaro when you pull up to your favorite cruising spot and opening the hood to reveal a Ford motor..... PRICELESS... For everything else there's MasterCard!!!!

I've always wanted to put a 351C in one and I had a 69 in my garage that the owner gave up on restoring and I ended up scrapping it because I didn't have a blue oval motor to put in it at the time... now I have a 302W with no home

Blondie, I've got a 300hp 351w ford motorsport crate motor in my 86 F150 4x4 and it'll run, moves that 5000# truck pretty good. I've got a C6-NP208{gear-to-gear}-9" locker w/4.10:1 ratio-Dana44 twintraction front w/ trutrac. This thing is as tough as any truck I've ever seen, street wise that is! I am the guy that everyone calls when they break out in BFE because they know mine will get them out and home!

My 351C went into a tube frame '66 VW. Brought my dads Miller portable welder home from work at night and welded it up. That was the nicest VW body wise and i hacked it up. Never finished it, got married . My 302 is still sitting in my celler, been there for 25 years. Got a 6-71 beside it. Think i am going to build a blown T Bucket to drive to work. Nice 80 mile daily trip...Bob

                          PJ,

I've got an 86 F250 with a 351W in it and the same transfer case, differential gear ratios you have. Right now it's half dismanlted because my ex wrecked it last winter on an icy road.... as the Lynyrd Skynyrd song said "Oak tree you're in my way". I'm seriously considering pulling the 236,000 mile motor out and replacing it with a Powerstroke.... Arrrrrrrhh and dualieing it out. Perhaps it could be my next mobile rig? If I can ever find a good deal on a used Big 40!

Here's one to make you laugh, once I used my Ranger 4x4 to pull a full size bowtie truck out of the mud. The guy said my Ranger would never pull his truck out of the mud, I laughed, grabbed low range and tugged the big ol bowtie right up out of the mud. When I got out to unhook the chain I said to him "It's not for sale at any price" got back in and drove off.

                          Bob,

A blown T bucket now that's what I call ridin to work in "CLASS"! strange thing is when I do find something interesting to put my 302 in I also want to "huff" it that along with a poke n stroke to 347ci! I've been looking about half heartedly for an old Falcon like early 60's with the big round tail lights or a 59 Comet with the slanted almond shaped tail lights. I knew a guy who put a built 390 in an old Falcon, it sounded nice but couldn't get out of the hole because all it did was wheel hop.

Well guys take it easy and have a good one

                            Blondie:
I built my truck from the ground up, started on Jan 2, 2000, finished sept 21, 2000. 9 monthes of hard labor, and delivered a 5000# blue baby truck! I built a 18" tall bumper for the front out of some 1/4" Aluminum and the gusset plates on the back side are 1/2" and it will not give in an accident!

I wrecked it the wednesday before christmas and did nearly $3000 damage. Headlight bucket, turnsignal, fender, door, rear quarter, one crease all the way down the side. It will take some work but it still drives and the door still works, it just looks sad !

I pulled my buddies 1 ton out of a big mud hole when he broke a front shaft, he couldn't believe the power, and he has a diesel!

                                Bob,

When the weather breaks I'll take you up on that. Do you have a place in mind to shoot? I know where there's a public range, range pass is 5.00 for a day or 24.00 for a year. It's not too far either about 4 or 5 miles north of 422 on 534 it's called Grand River. It's a state managed facility with a range supervisor and from what I hear it's an excellent place to go. I just got a new .22 cal target rifle at Christmas and I'm itching to get it sighted in. I'll hold off on the bigger stuff for now anyway as last time I took the 870 out and shot 10 rounds through it I regretted it for the next few days.
