  • 200dx volt meter question

I got my dynasty 200dx, its really long!

    I didn't get the accesories yet(torch etc)

But I just wanted to make sure it powered up so I went out and bought a 15a 120v plug and wired it up, green for ground, black/white for power. Cut off the red.

I plugged it in and everything comes up.

I was wondering can the volt meter tell me what power I'm getting from the wall? Right now I just get the 3 dashes which means output is off?

    Again nothing is hooked up.

i don't think it can. but would be cool if it did.

yes, it seemed pretty long when i took it out of the box . but after a while it looks just right. actually, i would have liked it to look, and be shaped like, a 250dx. but i can understand why it looks like it does.

i'm not sure, but i think so. do a search, it has been talked about. i think you just wire a 240v plug on. then wire a female 240v plug and a male 120v plug together.

yep Blown S-10 hit it. i will be doing the same thing, most of the time 99% of the time on 240V but it will be nice to have the 120V option if i need it
            thanks for the help

Moviestar, if you want you can put a 30A twistlock on the Dynasty's primary and then make yourself a set of handy pigtails which are short adaptors with twistlocks on one end to mate to the machine and whatever kind of plug you need on the other. This way they are less bulky, inline, and locked together to prevent them from coming apart when you pull on the cable or when the connection is hanging.

Yes, you just need to make a jumper lead. I have mine wired to match my 251 @ 220 volts and with a jumper to drop it down to 110 volt when I have to do a off property job. [That is the beauity of the machine that has AUTOLINE POWER MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY It is a great feature..

On the Passport it has a plug with pins one it. When you go to plug it in the wall you plug the 220 or 120 wall plug on the end. (two pig tails for two voltage inputs can anyone explain that. Why not wire it for say 120 and supply a 220 pigtail) not that important of a question I figure it's just too charge a couple extra bucks, everyone does it afterall they are in business.

you would have to wire it 220 with a 110 pigtail but my gess would be they wanted twistlock or some sort of locking conection witch neathere 110/220 standerd plugs will do. so you can lock on eather pigtail you want to use.

FWIW i asked once why they didnt have that type plug for the dynasty the responce was that the dynasty will accept too many power sorces with all 1 and 3 phase options thats just too meny plugs
                    thanks for the help

When I made mine I just used a 4 wire grounding type twist-lock male on the Dynasty's primary, so I can just makeup any pigtail when I need it and this includes three phase versions. For two phase pigtails, the third hot pin is just ignored on the pigtail side inside the twist-lock reciever.

Only one problem...the four wire twist lock recievers are EXPENSIVE. And you need one for each pigtail.

i'm going to use a 220V twist lock on my dynasty that way i only need 1 pig tail. ill just use a trist lock on the wall and a twist lock for my 110V pigtail .99.9% of the time ill be in the shop on 245V so ill just twist lock right into the wall if i ever leave the shop with it it will be for somthing miner for my brother and ill use the 110V pigtail.(or the MM135 )
