  • HELP! basic Dynasty 200 question.

Just starting to use my new Dyansty 200 DX. But... I get absolutely no current. I have it on impulse start and i get a starting arc but get nothing on lift start. After the starting arc on impulse... nothing. Settings are as recommended I think.

This is my first tig effort. Am pretty desparate to get started and find out what I don't know!
    I guess I already have.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I hope no one minds if I post this on several boards. I know not many are available for help during the holidays and really want to get to it.

    Thanks everyone and Happy Hollidays.

      thanks.

      1. work lead checked and tight.

      2. settings (for mild steel):

      Polarity: DC
      Process: TIG HF IMPULSE
      Output: FMT STD (for footpeal)

      everything else is off.

really appreciate the help. can't figure what stupid thing i am doing wrong.

look in tha manual. there is a page for getting started on stainless steel. use those settings.

have someone look at the meters while you strike an arc. what do they say ?

This happens to my machine from time to time and all I do is hold the torch in position, press the foot control, and tap the filler rod on the work piece. The arc will start, and away you go. Don`t ask why this works, but it happens enough to be a reflex reaction now. Let us know if you gain any ground. I`m sure with a little time on this machine you will have a blast.

                Thanks for the suggestions.

The problem was a really stupid error on my part. Probably more stuped than anything anyone else has done or at least has mentioned. I think I was really tired and I used the ground clamp from the plasma cutter rather than the work clamp for the Dynasty. Has anyone else done such a crazy thing.

Anyway, will move on and work at this for awhile and then I'm sure I'll be back with, I hope more appropriate questions.

Thanks again for all of you on this board.

that realy is a more comen probem than you might think.

i have done tha same thing with my mig/plasma thats whay i sugjested check all the basices wile you wait for someone with a more tecnical anser. the basics get more people than you might think not shoure if we just get lazy, too confadent, too big a hurry, or some times too excited but it happens.

happy welding and feel free to ask the only stupid ??? is the 1 you dont ask
                            thanks for the help

you could always paint a differnt color stripe or something on part of the clamps so you can tell the diff between the two.
